Parenting Tip of the Day…Have Your Children Milk a Cow…
Just Let me know when you want to milk a cow and I’ll hook ya up…
Todd Scarborough from Jasper Arkansas, otherwise known to many people as Mr. Arkansas having won many body building competitions through the years is a milker extraordinaire… 3 1/2 gallons in 20 minutes with his bare hands. My boys Sam and Ben have a new appreciation for where the heck that white stuff comes from and the speed with which Todd cranks that milk out. Even though we usually drink almond milk since we haven’t found a local farmer with raw milk quite yet, we are on a mission to find one. In the mean time, Todd was an incredible teacher and his wife Cathy woops up some pretty mean Ghee. They have raised their 3 boys in the country living quite sustainably heating with wood, raising chickens as well as raising awareness on health and nutrition to clients as well as the school district. Cathy is helping the school to buy local produce and make healthier food choices for the school lunches. A great example of the kind of parenting that needs to happen everywhere. Thanks Todd and Cathy!
Wowza… no wonder he can milk a cow so fast. He covers up those beautiful muscles rather well with those farm clothes…And what a nice guy too. He loves his land and caretakes some amazing property in Arkansas. We are going to go exploring next time we visit. Stay tuned for more videos of Todd. Yi Yi Yi Yi…
It’s important to get your kids hands in the dirt and working on a farm now and then. Brings them down to earth and the real world and away from their I Pads. They aren’t going to choose it necessarily when you ask. Actually quite unlikely… It is up to you to create these experiences and just say, “We’re going to milk a cow today, boys. So hop in the pick up and turn your cell phones off. We are goin’ to the farm!” Yeeee Hawwww!!

The Secret to Great Parenting…Simplify…The Bushman Parent
The San Bushman Parents and Children
of the Kalahari in Botswana Africa
I had the honor of photographing the Bushman for a documentary on the beauty of the Bushman parenting which has sustained them since the dawn of time. As with all the indigenous cultures of the world the lands and their ways are being quickly destroyed. I’m hoping enough people in the world will start to realize these are the people that have the most to teach about living and surviving on this earth so that they are protected and their knowledge of the plants, animals and sustainable skills can continue to be taught and passed down to future generations. This family is in desperate need of water. Contact the Grassland Lodge to see what you can do to help.
Take your children to places that are different than their daily surroundings. Introduce them to other children living in different circumstances. It will open their hearts and minds to how we are all the same. Let them laugh and play with other children so they can grow up understanding we are all here to take care of one another.
Feeding People Organic Food in gardens in city landscapes
Gardens with purpose at its finest.
Time to do some organic gardening and organic cooking that our children can grow up with.
Wouldn’t it be great if kids really experienced where their food came from by actually growing it everywhere? Think of all the expense city’s put into landscapes that have no purpose except to look pretty…Create a movement in your community and we will come out and video how you are making a difference….
Juicing for better health and natural living
Here is a great website for Juicing Recipes!
My 13 year old son Sam and I found this after watching the movie “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead”.
This movie inspired both my teens to juice. When my kids are getting veggies in them, I’m a happy mom….
